As per reports, Hardik Pandya will miss the first few matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy but will join the side in the later stage of the tourney

India cricket team all-rounder Hardik Pandya will reportedly miss the first few matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The Baroda star was recently a part of the side for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy where the team crashed out in the semi-finals. The 50-over domestic tournament will be the preparation ground for Hardik and other Indian cricketers ahead of Champions Trophy 2025 which will begin in February 2025.

As per News18, Hardik Pandya will miss the first few matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy. He has reportedly conveyed his availability schedule to the Baroda team management. Additionally, the report states that the star will join the Krunal Pandya-led side in the later stages of the tournament and is keen to participate in the domestic tourney ahead of Champions Trophy 2025.

Hardik Pandya has confined himself strictly to white-ball formats and has no plans to feature in the red-ball format anytime soon. He was stripped off the T20 captaincy earlier this year as Suryakumar Yadav was named his replacement. In SMAT, he played under the captaincy of his brother Krunal and showcased his all-round abilities throughout the tournament, barring the knockout stage.

Baroda are placed in Group E in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The tournament will kick-start from December 21 onwards, with Krunal Pandya and co. set to play in Hyderabad. Baroda will take on Tripura in the tournament opener following which they will take on Kerala on December 23. The team’s remaining group stage matches are scheduled to take place on December 28, 31, January 3, and 5 against Bengal, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Delhi.
