Hardik Pandya is my role model, Delhi Capitals young star looks to emulate MI captain’s all-round brilliance

With Sumit Kumar drawing inspiration from Hardik Pandya, the IPL 2024 clash between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans promises to be an exciting battle.

Ahead of their crucial match against Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals‘ all-rounder Sumit Kumar has revealed his cricketing idol – Hardik Pandya.

Hardik Pandya: Source of Inspiration

In a video posted by the Delhi Capitals, Kumar expressed his admiration for the Mumbai Indians skipper. “My role model is Hardik Pandya,” he declared. “I have been following him for some time, and the way he bats lower down the order, I resemble myself.”

Sumit Kumar identifies with Pandya’s ability to impact the game with both bat and ball, particularly his role as a finisher. “The way he finishes the match, I try to emulate the same role and help my team,” he said.

Delhi Capitals need a Spark

This revelation comes as the Delhi Capitals find themselves struggling in the IPL 2024 season. Currently sitting at ninth in the points table, they’ve only managed to win two matches out of six. A strong performance from Sumit Kumar, mirroring Hardik Pandya’s all-round prowess, could be the turning point they desperately need.

Gujarat Titans stand in their way

Standing in their path are the Gujarat Titans, last year’s finalists. With three wins and three losses in their six matches played, they are currently placed sixth in the IPL standings.

IPL 2024 match with playoff implications

Both teams will be eager to secure a victory in this upcoming encounter. For the Delhi Capitals, it’s a chance to revive their campaign and climb the points table. For the Gujarat Titans, a win will solidify their position and push them closer to the playoffs.
