Hardik Pandya helps India virtually seal semi-final spot after handing Bangladesh 50-run drubbing

India picked up an important win in their Super 8 campaign as they handed Bangladesh a mammoth 50-run defeat. The Men in Blue secured a rather comfortable victory against the rivals in the Super 8 tie, with both batters and bowlers equally putting up an impressive show. Hardik Pandya top-scored for the side with a half-century, guiding India to a huge 196-run total. Although Bangladesh started off on a fiery note, the Indian bowlers struck at regular intervals.

Not much of a Ro-Ko show

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli began the proceedings for India in a stellar fashion after being put into the bat first. The Hitman was the first to perish after unleashing a furious assault in the first two overs. He managed to get India off to a flying start with a 23-run cameo. However, he fell prey to Shakib Al Hasan while attempting to go big once again.

Kohli steadied the ship for India, playing a 37-run knock that was studded with some breathtaking strokes and sixes. The former Indian skipper managed to stitch together a partnership that lasted for 32 runs before he followed his skipper back to the pavilion.

All eyes on Hardik Pandya!

While Suryakumar Yadav flopped in Antigua, Shivam Dube (34) and Rishabh Pant (37) set the perfect stage for Hardik Pandya to do his magic with the bat. The Indian vice-captain took on the Bangladesh bowlers in the death overs, propelling India to a massive 196-run total.

Hardik’s knock comes at the right time for India, considering that his batting prowess can add to the splendid bowling that he has been doing so far in T20 World Cup.

Bangladesh fail as India bowlers dominate

Despite getting off to a strong start, Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals with Hardik Pandya getting the first breakthrough. Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh grabbed two scalps each while Kuldeep Yadav was India’s highest wicket taker in the game with three wickets to his name. BAN skipper Shanto was the lone warrior and the top-scorer for the side, managing to put 40 runs on board before he was forced to walk back.
