The good days are finally back for Mumbai Indians. The hosts registered their maiden win of IPL 2024 with a dominant victory of 29 runs against Delhi Capitals. After a much needed win, MI skipper Hardik Pandya claimed it was hard work in etching out a win in the MI vs DC clash.
This 29-run victory will be a huge morale booster for Mumbai Indians who were languishing at the bottom of the Points Table. Hardik Pandya has claimed that they will make a few tweaks in tactical changes, but their 12-member squad is fixed for the time being.
“It was a lot of hard work. We had to clear our minds and make sure that we believed. We will be making tactical changes here and there but this will be our 12 and settling our team now is important. There’s a lot of love and care going around in the changeroom. Belief and backing each other is the attitude out there,” Hardik Pandya said after the game.
Hardik Pandya Praises Romario Shepherd
Romario Shepherd was adjudged as the Man of The Match for his exceptional performance. On his batting, he played a stunning cameo role. He slammed 39 runs from 10 balls, bludgeoning 3 fours and 4 sixes. In his bowling stint he was a tad expensive by giving away 54 runs in his 4 over spell. But he neutralised it by dismissing David Warner early in his innings.
“Everyone believed we need just one win. It was an amazing start today, always wonderful to get 70 odd in 6 overs. The way everyone chipped in when the opportunity was coming was good to see. That was some hitting na (On Romario’s heroics). He won us the game. Difference was Romario v Delhi Capitals. I like him. Always has a smile on his face, doesn’t run away,” Hardik added.
No bowling for Hardik?
Hardik Pandya didn’t role his arms in the game. In fact he used 6 bowlers against DC. Pandya claimed that everything was covered and thus he didn’t need to bowl. Proteas pacer Gerald Coetzee broke DC’s backbone with his 4-wicket haul.
“(On why Hardik didn’t bowl) I am fine. I’ll be bowling at the right time, we had everything covered today so did not have to roll my arms over,” Hardik Pandya concluded.
