The ICC T20 World Cup is just a few days away. And ahead of the this mega tournament, India Cricket Team vice-captain Hardik Pandya is battling his personal and professional demons. And it is a major concern for the Men in Blue who will be desperate to break their 11 year ICC Trophy jinx.
Poor Form – Failure as MI skipper
Hardik Pandya is the best all-rounder that India has in it’s arsenal. But Pandya has been going through a rough patch. He last featured for India back in the ODI World Cup in the IND vs BAN clash. He was subbed off after getting injured and hasn’t featured for the Men in Blue since then.
But it hasn’t been a red of roses for Hardik. He joined Mumbai Indians and failed as the new captain of the side in IPL 2024. Coupled with his poor all-round form in the mega tournament. He managed to score 216 runs in 13 innings. As far as bowling is concerned, he scalped 11 wickets in 12 innings.
Incessant Trolling
Hardik Pandya has been a subject to incessant trolling and abuse from fans across the country. Not just Mumbai Indians fans, he was booed and trolled by fans from other clubs as well. The reason? Hardik being the new skipper of Mumbai Indians. Fans far and wide decided to lend their support towards Rohit Sharma.
This in-turn resulted in fans turning on Hardik Pandya. Now this has surely taken a toll on the player. And this has reflected on his performances in the team.
Rumoured Separation
Rumours have made the headlines that Hardik Pandya is separating from wife Nataša Stankovic. Now considering that the T20 World Cup is starting in a few days, all these factors will play a huge part in the mental well being of the player. Therefore, it is a testament for Hardik Pandya to battle out his demons before the ICC tournament starts.
