‘Hard goodbye…’: Matheesha Pathirana bids emotional farewell to Chennai Super Kings and IPL 2024

After an injury ended his IPL stin, star pacer Matheesha Pathirana of the Chennai Super Kings bid an emotional farewell to both the five-time champions’ camp and the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The star bowler will go back to his native Sri Lanka to heal from the injury and get ready for the T20 World Cup 2024.

Before the injury ended his season, Pathirana was one of CSK’s best players in the IPL 2024, taking 13 wickets in six games. With a heartfelt message for all of his fans on Instagram, Pathirana posted his departure from India.

Can CSK fulfill Matheesha Pathirana’s wish?

The 21-year-old said he had never had a harder time saying goodbye and that he hoped the Chennai Super Kings would win their 6th IPL title this season. In addition, he conveyed his gratitude to the franchise for everything they had done for him.

“A hard goodbye with my only wish to see the 2024 IPL champion trophy in CSK’s room soon! Grateful to the CSK team for all the blessings and love from Chennai,” he wrote on Instagram.

Pathirana’s attention will now turn to the T20 World Cup 2024 where he will fight for the badge of the Sri Lankan national team.
