Could Harbhajan Singh coach Team India? Ex-spinner opens up on chances

In his career, Harbhajan Singh picked up 417 wickets in 103 Tests, and fulfills the criteria for BCCI's head coach qualification.

Former India off-spinner and one of the most successful bowlers the country has seen, Harbhajan Singh has expressed his desire to coach Team India, if given an opportunity. He said, “I do not know if I would apply. Coaching India is about man management, not about teaching players how to drive and pull. They know it very well. You can give some guidance to them. Cricket has given me so much and If I get a chance to give it back, I would be more than happy.”

BCCI Invites Applications

With current coach Rahul Dravid‘s tenure set to end after the T20 World Cup, the BCCI is on the lookout for a new coach till the next 50-over World Cup. Specific criteria has also been set to become the coach of Team India — minimum of 30 Test Matches or 50 ODIs, or experience as a head coach of a full member Test playing team for 2 years.
