Duleep Trophy: A determined Hanuma Vihari will look to eye a return to India’s Test setup when he will lead the South Zone team in the upcoming Duleep Trophy. The Andhra batter was out of action for five months due to a forearm fracture. Vihari sustained the injury during Andhra’s defeat to Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy 2022-23 quarterfinals in Indore.
Meanwhile, opener Mayank Agarwal will serve as his deputy in the domestic competition starting on June 28 in Bengaluru.

The South Zone squad was finalized by selectors during a meeting held in Goa on Tuesday.
Sai Sudharsan, who was a standout performer in the domestic season of 2022-23, has secured his place in the squad. Notably, the young all-rounder’s performance for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 final, where he scored a blistering 47-ball 96, impressed the selectors. The Tamil Nadu batter will be accompanied by his state teammates Washington Sundar, Pradosh Ranjan Paul, and Sai Kishore.
KS Bharat, who has returned to India after a disappointing outing in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, will don the wicketkeeping gloves for the South Zone team. Ricky Bhui, Vihari’s teammate from Andhra, will also be part of the team.
The squad also features Sachin Baby (Kerala), Darshan Misal (Goa), and Tilak Varma (Hyderabad).
South Zone finished as runners-up in the previous edition of the Duleep Trophy. They will begin their campaign with a direct entry into the semifinals, alongside defending champions West Zone.
