Less than 24 hours after Indian captain Rohit Sharma voiced his concerns regarding the impact player rule in IPL, former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan also expressed apprehensions about the rule. The left-arm pacer claimed that India are missing out on complete all-rounders due to the rule which allows IPL teams to replace a player with another during any part of the innings.
Impact player rule spelling doom for all-rounders?
Experts argue that the idea betrays the fundamental qualities of an all-around player. For example, Shivam Dube, who plays for his team Chennai Super Kings, is a medium pacer in addition to being a power hitter. However, he is playing as an impact player, coming into the team when CSK bat.

“I completely agree it’s debatable, little concern for sure. But we need to find a way on how to deal with it. In Impact Player rule you will find half all-rounders but not not a complete one,” Zaheer Khan said in an online interaction on JioCinema.
