Gujarat Titans will be wearing a special Lavender Kit in their final home match of the IPL 2024 season on May 13, when they face Kolkata Knight Riders at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Shubman Gill-led side is wearing the lavender jerseys for the second consecutive year to support a rather special cause.
Gujarat Titans to wear the special Lavender Kit against KKR
In their final home game, the Titans are trading their traditional Dark Blue kit for the Lavender one, symbolizing the fight against cancer. This initiative is aimed at raising awareness about cancer and promoting the importance of early detection and prevention. The choice of lavender is significant, as it represents all types of cancer and serves as a powerful reminder of the disease’s impact on many lives.
Gujarat Titans‘ gesture is part of a broader effort to combat cancer, which is the second leading cause of death globally, with approximately 9.9 million fatalities in 2020. In India, cancer cases have increased by 26% over the last decade, with a further projected rise of 12.8% by 2025 compared to 2020. By wearing lavender jerseys, the Titans are emphasizing the need for awareness, early detection, and lifestyle changes to help reduce the impact of cancer.
