Gujarat Titans have retained five players, including captain Shubman Gill, for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Alongside Shubman, the team has retained Rashid Khan, B Sai Sudharsan, Rahul Tewatia, and Shahrukh Khan.
In a surprising move, GT released their key bowler Mohammed Shami, choosing to retain Sudharsan over him. Shami, who missed IPL 2024 due to injury, is reportedly still not fully fit, which may have influenced the decision to release him. David Miller has also not been retained but could be brought back through the Right to Match (RTM) option if GT decides to pursue him in the IPL 2025 mega auction. With five retained players, GT now has just one RTM option remaining.
Gujarat Titans IPL 2025 retained players
The Gujarat Titans struggled to adapt after Hardik Pandya’s departure in IPL 2024, finishing eighth in the standings. Despite this, they are reaffirming their trust in Shubman Gill by extending his captaincy for the upcoming season.
GT made an impressive entry into the league, winning the title in their debut season, but Shubman and his squad couldn’t replicate Hardik’s success last season. They’re determined to change that by building a stronger team in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Rashid Khan will remain the team’s bowling spearhead, as rumours of his departure were dispelled. Additionally, Shahrukh Khan, the most expensive uncapped player in IPL 2024, has been retained for another season. The team is also keen to develop Rahul Tewatia and Sai Sudharsan further as franchise mainstays.
