After a full recovery from a back injury and subsequent surgery that kept him out of action since the 2023 ODI World Cup, Afghanistan’s all-rounder Rashid Khan expressed his happiness to be back on the cricket field. Rashid Khan was seen bowling at the Afghanistan nets in preparation for the T20I series against Ireland, which start on Friday. Rashid has been named captain of Afghanistan’s 15-man team. His recovery comes just before IPL 2024.
Rashid’s injury prevented him from participating in a number of competitions and tours, such as the SA20, the Big Bash League, Afghanistan’s series against the UAE, India, and Sri Lanka, and the Test and ODI matches against Ireland.
Before the first T20 International against Ireland, Rashid Khan shared a video of a practise session on Instagram to demonstrate his passion for the game and to thank his supporters for their well wishes.
“The one thing that will always give me the most amount of joy is being on the cricket field! Thank you to everyone for your wishes, super happy to be back bowling and excited for my game tonight,” Rashid wrote on Instagram.
