Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill summoned by CID over involvement in Rs 450 crore scam

Gill and three other Gujarat Titans players have been summoned after they invested in a company that ran a Rs 450 Ponzi scheme.

Four Gujarat Titans (GT) players have been summoned by the Gujarat Crime Investigation Department (CID) for investing in BZ Financial Services. These four players are captain Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Mohit Sharma, and Rahul Tewatia.

According to Ahmedabad Mirror, Gill had invested Rs 1.95 crore in the company. The amount the three other GT players have invested is somewhere between Rs 10 lakh and 1 crore. All four players will be called upon depending on their availability. Barring Gill, all three are in India and should reach Gujarat to help in the investigation. Meanwhile, the 24-year-old star from Punjab will travel to India after the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 has ended.

BZ Group Scam

The company had promised to pay a better interest rate than banks to people. However, upon learning that the promises were false and they were being defrauded, people turned to the police. The Gujarat CID initially reported that the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bhupendrasinh Zala BZ Financial Services had committed a Rs 6000 crore chit-fund fraud, but since the sum has been decreased to Rs 450 crore.
