GTs IPL retention Sai Sudharsan slams unbeaten 96 for IND A, takes lead to 120

Sai Sudharsan and Devdutt Padikkal added 180 runs together, that pushed AUS A on the backfoot in their first encounter.

Just a day after the IPL retentions were announced by all the teams, GT player Sai Sudharsan, along with Devdutt Padikkal came up with superlative performances for IND A vs AUS A at the Great Barrier Reef Arena. While India was bundled out for a paltry 107 in the first innings, the team made a comeback of sorts with their bowling.

IPL Retention Sai Sudharsan Shines

First it was Mukesh Kumar, who came up with brilliant figures of 6/46, and then it was Prasidh Krishna, who claimed 3/59 to bundle out the Aussie team for 195. Come the second innings, it wasn’t the brightest of starts for IND A again, as the team lost Ruturaj Gaikwad and Abhimanyu Easwaran early, but then Sai Sudharsan (96) and Devdutt Padikkal (80), steered the ship through, to take the team to 208/2 at stumps.

All said and done, the day belonged to Sudharsan, who was announced as GT’s IPL retention for a massive 8.50 Cr. With his unbeaten knock, the talented southpaw has only solidified his claim as one of the best batters in the country, across all formats. In fact, he was GTs highest run-getter in IPL 2024, where he scored 527 runs in 12 matches, at a strike rate of 141.
