In what could be a blow to Gujarat Titans, all-rounder Glenn Phillips has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025. The Kiwi star suffered a freak injury while fielding in the game against SRH earlier this month. GT have now confirmed that Phillips has returned home and will no longer take part in the tournament.

“Gujarat Titans all-rounder Glenn Phillips has returned to New Zealand following a groin injury he sustained during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 6,” a press release from GT read.
What happened to Phillips?
The incident happened in the sixth over, when Ishan Kishan played a shot off Prasidh Krishna, and Phillips came charging in. As soon as he threw the ball, he fell on the ground, and in much pain. In all that, he seemed to injure his groin.
Phillips hadn’t played a single game for GT in IPL 2025. In the tie against SRH, he had come in as a substitute fielder for Siraj. However, the injury forced him to limp off the field.
In 83 T20Is, he has scored 1929 runs, at an average of 31, and a strike-rate of 140. To with that, he has also picked up six wickets, but at a modest economy rate of 7.35 only.
