Gujarat Titans, who are one of the new entrants to the IPL, made a terrific start by winning three consecutive games this year before losing to Sunrisers Hyderabad in their previous contest. They are taking on table-toppers Rajasthan Royals and look to get back to winning ways.
Ahead of the contest, during the preview show, skipper Hardik Pandya was shown bowling leg-spin after exchanging few smiles with his teammate Rashid Khan. He tried to imitate the Afghan’s action and nearly replicated it and was seen asking for an appeal after bowling the delivery.
Both Rashid Khan and Hardik Pandya were picked up by the franchise ahead of the auction for 15 crores. Hardik Pandya, apart from leading the team has taken up a new role by batting atb number four slot this year. He has also returned back to bowling and has done a good job so far with both the bat and ball. He has scored 141 runs in four matches and has taken three wickets.
Meanwhile, the 23-year old leg-spinner has so far picked up six wickets in four matches for the franchise. The Afghanistan bowler is chasing a record as he needs one more wicket to become the fastest spinner to take 100 IPL wickets, in just 81 innings. Overall, he will become the joint second-fastest player to the milestone, tied with Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Only Lasith Malinga achieved the feat faster, in just 70 innings.
