India wicketkeeper batter Wriddhiman Saha has also a chance to prove his worth. The veteran will turn out for GT. If he manages to perform well then he may be back in contention for selection yet again.
Here at InsideSport, we take a look at 5 players who can make a grand comeback like Rahane and Yadav
1: Hardik Pandya
GT captain Hardik Pandya will have a point to prove when he goes up against LSG. The all-rounder has been out of action since T20 World Cup in November. 2021 He had requested the BCCI selectors to not consider him for selection as well. Pandya worked on his fitness and also went to NCA to gain full fitness. After five months, he made the right noises by passing the YO-YO test with flying colors.
He also bowled a bit in NCA without much trouble. Now, he will be itching to make a mark in the first game against LSG.

- Vijay Shankar
GT all-rounder Vijay Shankar will also have a point to prove or two. He was dropped from the team in 2020 after failing to make an impact with bat and ball. Since that snub, he went on to captain Tamil Nadu. He has also done a good job as the team won Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2022. Shankar has had quite a few dismal IPL seasons with SRH.

Now, with a new team, the all-rounder will look to make some telling contributions with bat and ball.
- Wriddhiman Saha
Wicketkeeper batter Wriddhiman Saha was dropped from the Test team for the series against Sri Lanka. He was also told by the selectors that they have moved from him. A dejected Saha was naturally bruised by the snub. GT have shown faith in him and brought him in the auctions. The right-hand batter will be hungry to prove his point just as Rahane and Yadav did for KKR.
- Krunal Pandya
LSG all-rounder Krunal Pandya is another player who has been out of contention in the Indian team. Worst, the senior Pandya has also not performed well in IPL for MI for two seasons. LSG still shelled out 8.25 crores to buy Krunal. With the new franchise showing ample faith, the all-rounder would be eager to let his bat and ball do all the talking.
5. Krishnappa Gowtham
All-rounder Krishnappa Gowtham made heads turn when he was snapped up by CSK for 9 crores. He did not get to play even a single game. CSK did not retain him also. LSG brought him for mere 90 lakhs during the IPL 2022 mega auctions. Gowtham is a handy lower-order batter and a useful slow ball bowler. A good season for the all-rounder will pave the way for his return to the team.
