Ground staff in Bihar’s Patna burn dung cakes to get wet surface ready for Ranji Trophy match

Another day, another unique method to dry a wet outfield has come to the fore. Ground staff of the Moin ul Haq stadium in Patna were seen burning dung cakes in an attempt to dry the wet surface in order get it ready for a Ranji Trophy game. Bihar and Karnataka face-off against each other in the 3rd round tie of the tournament.

The groundsmen were seen burning dung cakes to dry the surface in a desperate attempt to get the game started. The ground staff were spotted trying their best to get the surface prepared for the game. However, no play was possible on Day 2, with the day’s play being called off without a ball being bowled.

Bihar vs Karnataka, Ranji Trophy

Play on Day 1 of Bihar vs Karnataka was affected by inclement weather as well, forcing an early end to the day’s play. The hosts faced a massive collapse, going from 107/4 at lunch to 143 all out at tea. Sharman Nigrodh top-scored for the side with a 60-run knock. Only three other batters managed scores in double figures while the rest departed for single digit scores. Karnataka spin twins Mohsin Khan and Shreyas Gopal wreaked havoc on the batting order, picking up 3 and 4 wickets each. Vidhyadhar Patil, Vijaykumar Vyshak and Vasuki Koushik bagged one scalp each to bundle out Bihar for a low 1st innings total

Karnataka finished at 16/0 and trail Bihar by 127 runs on stumps on Day 1 as play was stopped due to bad light.
