Greatest Test Win: Highlights of Team India’s victory over Australia at Gabba
Australia batting first posted 369 runs in their first innings with Marnus Labuschagne scoring a century . The Australian bowlers bowled well to reduce India to 186-6 only for Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar to do the rescue act for Team India. The duo stitched together a 123-run partnership for the seventh wicket as a result of which India ended just 33 runs behind Australia’s total.
The young Indian side went toe to toe against Australia with Mohammed Siraj bowling brilliantly in the second innings. The pacer bagged his maiden five-wicket haul, and was supported by Thakur who picked up four wickets. Australia were bowled out for 294, leaving India 328 to chase.
The visitors did not have the best of the start with Rohit Sharma getting dismissed early. Cheteshwar Pujara held his ground and stitched a crucial 114-run partnership for the second wicket with Shubman Gill keeping India in the match. Australia crawled their way into the match with help of wickets but Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 89 runs helped India cross the finish line with three-wickets to spare. The loss also meant Australia’s dominant 32-year unbeaten streak at the Gabba also ended.
