Just last year, Virat Kohli broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most ODI centuries and cemented his place as one of the greatest to ever grace the sport. The former Indian skipper had hit a snag in his career, failing to score a century for nearly three years.
However, after getting back to his best in late 2022, he scored 10 centuries across all formats to take his tally to 80. Even thinking about someone scoring eight centuries is a daunting task, but Virat Kohli is still 20 short of leveling Sachin Tendulkar’s astonishing record.
Now that he’s back on track, the world’s fastest bowler, Shoaib Akhtar, has backed him to reach the 100-century mark.
Snubbing Rohit Sharma, Kane Williamson, Steve Smith, and Joe Root, Akhtar called Virat Kohli the greatest batter of this era. Lauding his fitness and effort, he wished him all the luck in the hopes of him scoring 100 hundred and leveling Sachin Tendulkar’s record.
“He’s the greatest batsman of this era. He’s the best right now. Hats off to him for the kind of work he puts into his cricket career. I think it’s marvelous; hats off to him. I just want him to get 100 hundreds. I wish him the best of luck.”
