‘Great feeling to be back’: KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer banks on home support against LSG

Shreyas Iyer at the toss said it felt 'nostalgic' to come back to Kolkata after playing 3 away games.

Kolkata Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer on Tuesday won the toss and elected to bowl first in the first game of the double-header at the Eden Gardens on Sunday. Iyer at the toss expressed his excitement to be back at KKR’s home ground after three consecutive away games.

Electrifying crowd: Iyer

Iyer won the toss and elected to bowl first. On being asked how it felt to be back at the Eden Gardens after a long gap, Shreyas replied, “nostalgic”.

It feels nostalgic to be honest. The crowd is electrifying and this is what we were missing out when we were playing outside Kolkata. Coming back here, feeling the same love as the first game. It’s a great feeling to be back,” Shreyas said.

‘Will take maximum advantage of conditions’

Iyer admitted that that he does not have a very good idea of how the pitch is going to behave.

To be honest I have no idea. The last match we played on was a pelter to bat on. We are professionals and we need to see to it that we take the maximum advantage of whatever conditions or pitch we are offered. Bowling first, Rinku Singh goes out and Harshit Rana comes in,” Iyer said.
