Leading the team from the front, captain Uday Saharan guided his side to secure yet another place in the finals of the U19 World Cup. India clinched a sensational win in the semi-finals by 2 wickets against South Africa. India U19 skipper Uday Saharan and Sachin Dhas recovered India form e perilous to clinch a stunning victory.
Tasked to chase 245, India were reduced to 32/4. On came the strong partnership of Saharan and Dhas. The duo played incredibly to help India secure yet another place in the finals. Saharan went on to claim, that he had confidence on himself and the team.
“We were well behind at one point. Kept saying one thing that we have to bat till the end. Was a matter of one partnership. I get that from my dad (taking the game deep). When I walked into bat, ball was nipping a bit, and there was good bounce. Later it started coming onto the bat better,” Uday Saharan said after the match.
It was indeed a nail-biting match. But Saharan couldn’t help hit the winning shot. He was dismissed on 81 after an unfortunate run out. On the other hand, another star of the show, Sachin Dhas missed out on a century. The batter was dismissed on 96.
“We don’t let the morale get low in the dressing room at all – our environment and coaches are superb. Great feeling to reach the final. Got a taste of close games,” Saharan concluded.
