Good news for SRH! Cummins eyes comeback in IPL 2025 as warm-up before WTC final vs South Africa

Pat Cummins, who is out of Champions Trophy, is aiming to make his comeback in IPL 2025 in what is a good news for SRH

In what is a good news for Sunrisers Hyderabad, their captain Pat Cummins is aiming to return to action in IPL 2025. The all-rounder is currently sitting out of ICC Champions Trophy owing to an ankle injury. Cummins is now eyeing to make his comeback in IPL which starts on March 23 and use it as a warm-up stage for the World Test Championship (WTC) final.

Cummins set to make comeback in IPL 2025

As per cricket.com.au, Cummins revealed that he will start bowling by next week in order to be fit in time for IPL 2025. He said that playing in the IPL will be a nice build-up for the WTC final. Australia booked their berth in the final of the tournament for the second consecutive time after beating India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

That’s the aim. It’s four overs in T20s. So physically it’s quite a nice build up for the World Test Championship final, and then the Test matches after that. That’s the aim at this stage – start bowling over the next week or so, building up, and should be right for IPL,” Cummins said.

It’s probably just making sure you’re still bowling quite a few balls (during the IPL). The good thing about a T20 tournament is the intensity is really high, so that obviously helps quite a bit,” he added.

Australia will take on England in their Champions Trophy opener on Friday. The Steve Smith-led side will enter the tournament without the services of Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis. It will be quite a challenge for the defending ODI World Cup champions to win CT 2025, particularly due to fielding a depleted side.

Meanwhile, SRH will take on RR in their first game of IPL 2025 on March 23. Cummins, who was retained, will continue to lead the side.
