Jasprit Bumrah has started bowling at full tilt back again. The pacer who has been out of action since early January has been at the Centre of Excellence (previously National Cricket Academy) in Bengaluru, undergoing rehabilitation under the keen eye of the medical staff of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
He was originally expected to be back for the ICC Champions Trophy, having suffered a lower-back injury in Sydney. But even after 5 weeks, Bumrah wasn’t cleared to participate. It was reported that BCCI wasn’t ready to take a risk and caused the injury to worsen by sending Bumrah to Dubai.

However, Bumrah did travel to Dubai. But not to play. He was in attendance for the India vs. Pakistan match in the Champions Trophy 2025 and also accepted his ICC Player of the Year and ICC Test Player of the Year awards in person. Bumrah looked fine and just days later has started bowling at full tilt as well.
Mumbai Indians get positive update
Bumrah posted an update from the Centre of Excellence, where he was bowling with a proper plan in place. His speed was being mapped, and marker discs were placed on the pitch for him to focus on his line and length. This bodes well for his Indian Premier League (IPL) team, Mumbai Indians (MI).
With him, MI would have had a rough time. They have Trent Boult and Deepak Chahar, but they don’t threaten the batters like Bumrah does. Hardik Pandya would want Bumrah by his side if he wishes to win his first IPL trophy as captain with MI.
