Glenn Maxwell marriage: RCB star to miss Australia tour of Pakistan: While Australia and Pakistan clash in the T20 World Cup semi-final, plans are already in place for the Aussies to tour the Asain nation The Pakistan cricket board made the announcement earlier this week, with the tour set to comprise of three Tests, three ODIs and a solitary T20I. Australia’s Test captain Tim Paine claimed that some of the Australia stars could opt out of the tour, which includes all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who plans to have his long-delayed wedding.

Australia will be touring Pakistan for the first time in 24 years when they travel to the Asain nation for an all-format tour. However, Glenn Maxwell will not be amongst the touring party as he remains uncertain regarding his availability in the March-April window. Maxwell and his fiance plan to have their long-delayed wedding during that time period.
Maxwell and pharmacist Vini Raman were engaged in March 2020 but have had to reschedule their wedding several times due to COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions. The 33-year-old, who plies his trade for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the IPL 2021, would be among the first picked for Australia’s limited-overs matches against Pakistan between March 29-April 5, which follow a three-test series in the South Asian nation.

Maxwell expressed his doubts during a chat with the press, suggesting that his availability most likely hinges on his fiance. He said, “I think it’s great that we’ve got a tour to go back there. I think I saw it was 1998 the last time we went there. Whether I’m going there or not might probably hinge on my fiancee because my wedding is supposed to be on during that time. So I’m probably not quite the right person to ask that question.”

Asked whether there was a chance if the RCB star would postpone his wedding again, Maxwell said: “Not a chance. We’ve already moved it a couple of times so I think this is it.”
The last time an Australian squad played a series in Pakistan was in 1998 when Mark Taylor led them to a 1-0 series victory. Before that, the two teams will resume hostilities in the T20 World Cup, when they clash in the semi-finals. While Glenn Maxwell was in sublime form for RCB in IPL 2021, he hasn’t had much to do in the T20 World Cup but will hope to chip in when his side needs him.
