Glenn Maxwell fined 25 percent of match fee for IPL Code of Conduct breach vs CSK

Maxwell, who managed to score 1 run and take 1 wicket in the tie against PBKS, has been found guilty of breaching the Code of Conduct

Punjab Kings all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has been found guilty of breaching the IPL Code of Conduct in the game against CSK. The Australian hasn’t managed to fire all cylinders so far in IPL 2025, especially with the bat. PBKS clinched a 18-run win against CSK on Tuesday, handing the five-time champions their 4th successive defeat.

Maxwell fined

As per IPL’s press release, Maxwell admitted to a Level 1 offence under article 2.2.

The Punjab Kings allrounder admitted to the Level 1 offence under article 2.2 (abuse of fixtures and fittings during the Match) and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction,” the BCCI said in a statement

What does the rule say?

“Article 2.2 includes any action(s) outside the course of normal cricket actions, such as hitting or kicking the wickets and any action(s) which deliberately (i.e. intentionally), recklessly or negligently (in either case even if accidental) results in damage to the advertising boards, boundary fences, dressing room doors, mirrors, windows and other fixtures and fittings. For example, this offence may be committed, without limitation, when a Player swings his/her bat vigorously in frustration and causes damage to an advertising board,” reads the rule.

The all-rounder managed to score just 1 run before he was sent packing by Ashwin with a caught and bowled. Maxwell provided the breakthrough for the hosts by getting rid of the well-set Rachin Ravindra. He finished with figures 1/11 from his two overs.

What happened in PBKS vs CSK match?

Uncapped youngster Priyansh Arya smashed the second-fastest century even as wickets kept tumbling. His 42-ball 103, Shashank Singh’s 36-ball 52 and Marco Jansen’s 19-ball 34 took Punjab Kings to 219/6.

In response, CSK managed to post 201 runs at the end of 20 overs. Conway managed to score 69 runs before he was retired out. Dhoni’s 27-run cameo did not help the five-time champs as they slumped to a 18-run defeat.
