The T20 World Cup 2024 is still two weeks away, but it looks like sports broadcaster Disney Hotstar and the Star Sports network have already started to surprise their cricket fans. Recently, the Disney Network announced a special arrangement for their hearing and visually impaired cricket fans.
Now, hearing and visually impaired fans can look forward to being entertained as Indian Sign Language (ISL) and audio descriptive feeds will be available during next month’s T20 World Cup which is going to be provided by Disney network.
I & B Minister Praises Broadcaster’s Move
In a press release, Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur praised the broadcasters’ move, stating, “The Government of India is committed to creating an inclusive society, and I strongly believe that this initiative will enhance the viewing experience for millions of differently-abled sports enthusiasts”.
Apart from Thakur, Sajith Sivanandan, Head of Disney Hotstar India, also stated, ‘This underscores our commitment to promoting inclusivity and serving all users. With these enhancements, we aim to ensure that the excitement of cricket knows no bounds.’ Sanjog Gupta, Head of Disney Star (Sports), mentioned that the innovation has received a good response in the ongoing IPL.
