Gautam Gambhir overall IPL career

Gambhir was part of the Delhi Capitals for the first three years, from 2008 to 2010. He then spent from 2011 to 2017 at the Kolkata Knight Riders camp in the IPL, usually opening the innings. With more than 4000 runs, he showcased his batting prowess and scored 4217 runs, which includes 491 fours and 59 sixes in 154 matches. Gambhir was phenomenal, especially during his seven-year stint with the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Led KKR to two IPL titles

The first eye-catching record for which Gambhir is known are his leadership qualities, which led the Kolkata Knight Riders to IPL trophies first in 2012 and then again in 2014. Under his stewardship, KKR underwent a significant turnaround. Gambhir is renowned for his aggressive approach mixed with strategic acumen, which he applied effectively to secure results, notably in the eastern derby. 

Scored 4000 runs in IPL

Gambhir has also scored more than 4000 runs in the IPL. Making runs in the IPL has always been considered paramount in the T20 format. Only a few people hold such records. This gives a brief overview of how, apart from his leadership skills, his contribution as a batter has been impeccable. Also, he holds the record for the most consecutive fifties (5) in the IPL 2012
