As the IPL 2025 is now almost here, India’s head coach Gautam Gambhir has decided to chill for some time as he is in vacation mode, which means he will not be available in the country during the initial days of the tournament. A video on social media shows Gambhir at the airport with his family, heading for a trip to France.
Family vacation for Gambhir after Champions Trophy win
Gambhir was seen travelling with his wife Natasha and their daughters, Aazeen and Anaiza. His casual attire and family outings have sparked discussions about his priorities, as now he’s the coach of the Indian cricket team, and he doesn’t have any involvement in the IPL. The break is his first one since leading India to a Champions Trophy victory in Dubai last month, where India claimed their first ICC trophy since 2013 by defeating South Africa.

Focus to shift to the England Tour after IPL
While IPL teams compete for playoff spots, Gambhir will be looking to be on India’s upcoming five-Test tour of England in June 2025. This series is like a big challenge for India, as the team hasn’t achieved success in back-to-back two-Test series so far. First India lost to New Zealand at home and then failed to defend the BGT against Australia. Gambhir will be looking to the Bazball tactics and will require detailed preparation.
Should Gambhir be Scouting IPL talent?
As the Gambhir family enjoys the sights of Paris, some question whether the India coach should be scouting IPL talent during the tournament. Although his vacation dates haven’t been revealed, it’s possible Gambhir may watch the league after missing the early weeks. Also, there are selectors and management to scout the talent who will do their job during the league.
