New Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir is already making his voice heard regarding the people he wants in his team as he prepares to begin a new era in Indian cricket. According to a report, Gambhir has asked BCCI to consider former South African international Morne Morkel as India’s new bowling coach. Morkel, who has previously worked with Gambhir in Lucknow Super Giants, is said to have a comfortable working relationship with the new head coach.

Since Gambhir was announced as the new head coach after Rahul Dravid’s exit, several names have been doing rounds for the position of bowling coach including Lakshmipathy Balaji, Vinay Kumar and Zaheer Khan. However, Gambhir, who likes to choose his own team to work with, is sold on the idea of Morkel working alongside him.
BCCI in talks with Morne Morkel?
A report from Cricbuzz stated that Gambhir has already conveyed his wish to the BCCI. The report further claims that a round of discussion has taken place with the South African. However, BCCI is yet to take a final call regarding the appointment.
