Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir ended his association with IPL side Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as the team’s mentor ahead of the 2024 edition. The former Indian batter is all set to return to Kolkata Knight riders (KKR) – the side he captained twice to IPL trophy – as mentor for the upcoming edition.

Taking to X, Gambhir thanked the players, coaches, support and others who made his journey at LSG memorable. While he also thanked the team owner for his support, he also wished the franchise the very best for their future endeavors.
Gautam Gambhir returns to KKR
Venky Mysore, CEO of KKR, announced on Wednesday that Gautam Gambhir will return to KKR as “Mentor” and join hands with head coach Chandrakant Pandit.
Speaking on his return, Gambhir said – “I am not an emotional person and not many things move me. But this is different. This is back to where it all started. Today, there is a lump in my throat and fire in my heart as I think about slipping into that purple and gold jersey once again. I am not only coming back to KKR but I am coming back to the city of joy. I am back. I am hungry. I am number 23. Ami KKR”
