A disappointing batting display by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has cast a shadow over their IPL 2024 campaign. In Match 22 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, KKR could only manage a paltry 137 runs on the board after being put in to bat first.
The team’s struggles were evident on the faces of Gautam Gambhir and Chandrakant Pandit. A photo circulated online where the KKR mentor and the head coach were seen with their heads down, reflecting on the team’s batting collapse.
Star spinner Ravindra Jadeja ran riot for CSK, taking 3 wickets for just 18 runs, while Tushar Deshpande chipped in with a crucial 3 wicket haul for 33 runs.

Form KKR players falter vs CSK
KKR’s innings got off to a worst possible. Opener Phil Salt handed an easy catch to Ravindra Jadeja on the very first ball of the mach. Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi then stitched up a decent stand of 56 runs. However just when Jadeja came to bowl in the 7th over, the match turned upside down.
The left-arm spinner picked up three quick wickets. Unfortunately for the visitors, their in-form players couldn’t deliver either. While Shreyas Iyer top-scored with 34, both Rinku Singh and Andre Russell were dismissed for 9 and 10, respectively.
To add misery for KKR, the Super Kings mustered 52/1 in their powerplay overs and are looking well set to hunt down the total.
