India on Thursday outplayed South Africa in the IND vs SA 3rd T20I. Batting first, India posted a formidable total of 201 courtesy of Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav’s majestic ton. South Africa was bundled out for mere 95 runs in reply, with chinaman Kuldeep Yadav leading the charge with a 5-wicket haul. Former India batter Gambhir and Proteas pacer Dale Steyn lavished praises on the Indian duo of SKY and Kuldeep at the Star Sports post match show.

Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav played a magnificent innings to help India wriggle out of a tricky situation when India lost two back-to-back wickets early on. He played an innings of 100 of 56 balls, helping India post a tall total on the scoreboard.

Gautam Gambhir was all praise for the batter after the match. “Suryakumar’s innings looks even more special when we see the South Africans struggling on the same surface. I thought SKY was incredible. He was on 20 of 21 balls and then to go on to score your 100 In 50 odd balls is phenomenal. That is what he has been doing for such a long period of time in T20 cricket and there is no reason why he can’t do the same in the 50-over format. He not being able to crack the code in ODIs is literally a shame,” Gambhir said.
Kuldeep Mystery
However, the Indian bowlers needed to do their job to ensure India avoided a series loss, and they did their job perfectly. Kuldeep Yadav had a wonderful birthday, taking 5 wickets to push the match out of South Africa’s hands.
“Kuldeep has done that in the last one and a half years for India. Even in the 50 over format he was really impressive. It is really difficult to pick up Kuldeep from his hand. People try to pick him off the wicket, but the moment you go back, what happens is what exactly happened to Keshav Maharaj and Donovan Ferreira,” Gambhir said.
Proteas pacer Dale Steyn joined in too in praising Kuldeep, “I like the way he bowls straight, kind of attacking the stumps. He was able to change his pace when he wanted too. What stood out was that he got the wickets very very quickly, if you consider the facts that he got these wickets inside 14 overs in a T20 game, imagine the damage two spinners could do in a 50 over game. Also to pick up a 5-wicket haul on your birthday is sensational too,” Steyn said.
