Gautam Gambhir calls for change in India’s “batting obsessed” attitude

Under the helm of Gautam Gambhir, batters cannot only receive praise! Just two days before the Test match against New Zealand, Gambhir emphasized the need to eliminate India's 'batting-obsessed' attitude as soon as possible

The Indian men’s cricket team is getting ready to host New Zealand for three Test matches and Just two days before the action begins, India’s head coach, Gautam Gambhir, Jog everyone’s memory that his team is not sticking to a specific Test cricket style. The head coach clearly mentioned that it’s not always the batters who lead the team, it’s the bowlers who are the real heroes, as their twenty wickets are what lead the team to victory.

“India is a batting-obsessed nation. But Bumrah, Ashwin, and Jadeja are changing that. Bumrah is smart in Test cricket. It is good that these guys are changing the trend. Bumrah is the best fast bowler in the world right now and can make a difference at any stage of the game,” Gambhir said in a press conference.

Jasprit Bumrah to be Rohit Sharma’s assistant

Backing his thinking for bowlers, Gautam Gambhir and the management have officially named Bumrah as the vice-captain for the three-match Test series against New Zealand. Although there is no official clarification, we might see Bumrah leading in Test cricket if Rohit misses out in future red-ball games.

India, who is coming to Bengaluru for the 1st Test after completing a whitewash of Bangladesh, showed brilliance with both bat and ball in the first two Test matches under Rohit Sharma’s leadership. However, it was bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep, and Ravichandran Ashwin who cleaned up Bangladesh and are expected to do the same against New Zealand.
