Future of Test cricket is great: Ben Stokes hails emerging young talents in IND vs ENG Test series

Many consider Test cricket as a dying format. However, Stokes after the match said Test cricket is safe with many young talents coming through.

England captain Ben Stokes on Monday asserted that the future of Test cricket is in safe hands after many youngsters from both India and England emerged as game changers in the IND vs ENG series. India on Monday won the 5-match Test series against England by winning the IND vs ENG 4th Test and taking an unassailable 3-1 lead in Ranchi.

Youngster Dhruv Jurel shone with a gritty 90 runs in first innings and an unbeaten 39 runs in the second. From England, young spinner Shoaib Bashir took a fifer in the first innings and backed it up with 3 wickets in the second.

Apart from these youngsters, Sarfaraz Khan of India was impressive on his debut in the series, scoring half-centuries in both innings of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test.

Many consider Test cricket as a dying format. However, Stokes after the match said Test cricket is safe with many young talents coming through.

You know, I think so far the series really has a lot of talent, not only for us, but also for India. I am a massive Test cricket fan, I love Test cricket and I think on both sides we’ve seen some young, inexperienced players come out. I think the future is great for Test cricket,” Stokes said.
