Fun fact: RR’s Vaibhav Sooryavasnhi wasn’t even born when RCB last beat CSK at Chepauk in IPL!

RCB and CSK are about to lock horns in Chennai on March 28. But guess when Bengaluru won their last match there? It was in 2009!

When the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) enter the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk, to lock horns with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), they will get reminded about their horrible record at the venue. At the IPL 2025, both teams come on the back of superb wins over tough opponents.

CSK to welcome RCB at Chepauk

RCB kicked off the proceedings with a one-sided win over defending champs KKR. Meanwhile, CSK welcomed arch rivals MI with a last-over triumph. The ‘Anbuden’ also got to witness the enigma of MS Dhoni, who played two balls for no runs and saw Rachin Ravindra finish off the encounter with a six. Against RCB, Dhoni has the record for most runs (776) as a CSK player, and the Chepauk crowd will be behind him obviously in the next game.

The stakes will be a lot higher as the rivalry just continues to grow. Last year, RCB knocked CSK out of the playoffs race, and the Men in Yellow would know that. Regardless, one thing that would be on CSK’s mind is their home advantage, especially against RCB.

RR youngster not even born, Kohli didn’t play for India….

The Chennai franchise has hosted as many as nine IPL games at Chepauk against RCB. The Chepauk chapter, fascinatingly, started with RCB beating the hosts in 2008. But guess what? That is it. That 14-run win on May 21, 2008, remains RCB’s only win at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. Since then, they have lost eight back-to-back encounters!

Here are some interesting facts that you would love to know happened since RCB’s last IPL triumph at CSK’s den. Well, one of the IPL 2025 players wasn’t even born! Yes, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who was picked up by the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for Rs 1.10 crore, wasn’t even born. March 27, 2011, is the birth date of the talented southpaw.

Meanwhile, Kohli hadn’t had his international debut by that time! He was still a rookie and yet played the only time RCB beat CSK at Chepauk. As we all know, Kohli made his India debut on August 18, 2008, which is 89 days after that RCB-CSK match. Now, he stands at 550 international appearances! So basically, Kohli has scored 27,599 international runs in this period. And the kind of form he’s in, it won’t be a surprise if that tally remains the same!
