Frustrated Pakistan finally gets a breakthrough; ‘lucky’ Steve Smith departs for 26

Smith was adjudged out Leg Before Wicket (LBW) a couple of overs before but survived a close call.

After a lucky escape in the 55th over of the 1st inning, Australian batter Steve Smith has departed. A frustrated Pakistan had seen a catch drop early in the innings, edges falling safe, and several plays and misses. Playing just his 5th match, Mir Hamza did what Shaheen Afridi couldn’t.

Steaming into the 58th over, just three overs after his lucky DRS escape, Smith edged one to the keeper, Mohammad Rizwan. However, the batter was adjudged not out by umpire Joel Wilson.

A reluctant Shan Masood and Pakistan took the review. Much to Smith’s dismay, the ‘Snicko’ showed a small spike, and Smith had to walk into the hut.
