Gill-Rohit at top

Starting with Rohit Sharma, former T20I captain of India and undoubtedly a white-ball legend, everyone knows that he is currently going through the twilight of his career. In IPL 2025, Mumbai Indians played their first match against Chennai Super Kings, but Rohit failed to make an impact, getting dismissed for a duck. This marked his 18th duck in IPL history, placing him third on the list of most ducks in the tournament.

Alongside him, another Indian player, Shubman Gill, is also leading his team. As the captain of the Gujarat Titans, there are high expectations from him. In GT’s opening game of IPL 2025, they faced Punjab Kings but ended up losing. Gill, expected to lead from the front, got a good start and scored 33 off 14 balls. However, given his role as a key player, he was expected to stay at the crease for longer, especially as PBKS put up a massive total of 243 runs. While Gill played an aggressive knock, he couldn’t capitalize on his start.

The list also includes Glenn Maxwell, who was dismissed for a first-ball duck in a match against Gujarat Titans, marking his 19th duck in IPL history. Similarly, Rajasthan Royals’ Nitish Rana, despite his vast experience, has failed to make an impact so far. Even Rishabh Pant, who carries a hefty price tag, has not shown much promise, struggling for form with LSG against Delhi Capitals.

Not to forget Riyan Parag, the stand-in captain for Rajasthan Royals, who is struggling both with the bat and as a leader. His captaincy has not been convincing, with the Royals losing both games he has led so far.

Coming to the bowling section, Wanindu Hasaranga and Ravi Bishnoi also haven’t had a good outing for their respective teams. However, the biggest talking point is Jofra Archer, who recorded the most expensive bowling figures in IPL history, conceding 76 runs in four wicketless overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. This surpassed the previous record of 73 runs conceded by Mohit Sharma.
