With Bharat failing to come good in the five Test matches against Australia, Kishan was handed an opportunity to be designated wicketkeeper batter in the first Test against West Indies. The southpaw, who had a decent average of 39 in first-class cricket, was preferred for his superior batting skills. Kishan is an aggressive batter like Pant and likes to take the game forward by playing a fearless brand of cricket.
With Pant set to be sidelined for three to four months, it is a good chance for Kishan to cement his place as a wicketkeeper batter in the longest format.
After playing the second Test against West Indies, Kishan will likely travel to South Africa to play two Test matches in December.
