Former SRH all-rounder join PSL’s Karachi Kings as head coach for season 10

PSL franchise Karachi Kings appointed Ravi Bopara as the head coach, after he had served as an assistant coach and a batting coach earlier.

PSL franchise Karachi Kings on Friday named former England all-rounder Ravi Bopara as their head coach, and Mohammad Masroor as the high performance coach for the upcoming season 10. It is important to note that Bopara was associated with the team in different capacities for years, and was even their captain in 2016, followed by a batting coach stint in 2023, and an assistant coach role in 2024.

On the other hand, Masroor too was associated with the team as a fielding coach and an assistant coach. The appointments have come after Phil Simmons was let go, despite his exceptional show in PSL 9. Now, the latter will serve as the head coach of the Bangladesh cricket team.

Commenting on the appointments, Kings’ Owner Salman Iqbal said, “We are delighted to welcome Ravi Bopara as our head coach for PSL 10. His journey with Karachi Kings from player and then as part of our coaching staff reflects his deep commitment to the franchise. We are confident that his leadership will bring a fresh energy to the squad.”

“Additionally, Masroor’s promotion as high-performance coach is a testament to his hard work and dedication over the years. Together, they form a strong coaching unit that will drive Karachi Kings towards success.”

Meanwhile, the PSL 10 is scheduled to begin on April 11, and will clash with the IPL as well. Interestingly, Bopara played in the IPL till 2015, and had been associated with teams like Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. As for Karachi Kings, he 31 matches in the PSL, contributing heavily with the bat and ball in the 2015/16 season.
