Former Pakistan team director Mohammad Hafeez yet to receive dues from PCB: Report

Mohammad Hafeez was initially brought on-board for four years, but his tenure with the PCB ended unceremoniously in two months only.

Former Pakistan team director Mohammad Hafeez hasn’t received the dues from the PCB, for his services, with a considerable amount of time having already passed. As per a report in Cricket Pakistan, Hafeez, who took over the reigns of team under Zaka Ashraf, is waiting for the disbursement of funds by the board.

Lackluster Performance by Pakistan Under Mohammad Hafeez

It was during the twin tours of Australia and New Zealand that Hafeez was appointed for the role, but the team lost miserably in both countries. Under new captain Shan Masood, Pakistan lost 0-3 in Tests vs Australia, and under Shaheen Afridi, they lost 1-4 vs New Zealand in T20I series.

Need for Change

As soon as new PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi took over, the need for foreign coaches was realised and Hafeez was sidelined. Eventually, he was removed only after two months, while his contract extended for the next four years. Coming back to the non-payment of dues, Hafeez is yet to get even the daily allowances for both the tours.

Kirsten & Gillespie Appointed

On the other hand, the PCB is set to hire South African Gary Kirsten and Australian Jason Gillespie as coaches for the men’s national team. As per Geo News, the Kirsten will be in-charge of the white-ball formats only, while the Aussie will take over the coaching of the Test team. Interestingly, Kirsten is currently the batting coach of GT.
