Former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fast bowler Kulwant Khejroliya has become just the third bowler to take 4 wickets in 4 balls in Ranji Trophy history. The fast bowler who plays for Madhya Pradesh created the record during their team’s Ranji Trophy 2024 match against Baroda.
While 80 players, including Khejroliya, have taken a hat-trick in the premier first-class tournament, this was just the second occasion in the red-ball event’s 90-year history that a bowler claimed 4 wickets in 4 balls.
Khejroliya dismissed Shashwat Rawat (bowled), Mahesh Pithiya (caught), Bhargav Bhatt (LBW), and Akash Singh (bowled) in the 95th over of Baroda’s second innings. The left-arm pacer then went on to take his maiden 5-wicket haul as his team, Madhya Pradesh, won the match by an innings and 52 runs.
In the first inning, Kulwant scalped two wickets and helped his side restrict Baroda to just 132. However, these second-inning exploits will have his name written in the record books forever.
The win has also helped Madhya Pradesh attain the top spot in Elite Group D and virtually seal their quarterfinal spot.
