Former India cricketer booked for misappropriation of funds, CHECK DETAILS

Mohammad Azharuddin became the Hyderabad Cricket Association president in September 2019.

Former India skipper Mohammad Azharuddin finds himself in the middle of another controversy. This time, four criminal cases have been registered against the ex-office bearers of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), including Azharuddin, for alleged misappropriation of INR 3.85 cr funds, as per a report in the Times of India.

The report suggests that the money was allegedly spent on the purchase of the cricket ball, fire safety equipment, gym equipment, and bucket chairs at the RGIC stadium in Uppal. While Azharuddin was the HCA president at that time, R Vijay Anand was the secretary, and Surender Agarwal was the treasurer.

All the alleged culprits have been charged under sections 406, 409, 420, 465, 467, 471, and 120-b of the IPC, for cheating, forgery, and conspiracy. Meanwhile, the complaints have come from the HCA CEO Suneel Kante Bose. The latter went on to reveal, that he hired a CA firm to carry out a forensic audit of the HCA, during Mohammad Azharuddin’s term.

Insidesport

“Based on the interim forensic audit report, it is evident that certain transactions entered into on behalf of HCA with third-party vendors are not genuine and that the transactions have been carried out in a manner detrimental to the interest of the Association,” the complainant stated.

Ex-HCA President Response

Taking to social media, Azhar said, that the allegations made by the HCA CEO were false and motivated. He went on to say that he would reply to these accusations at an appropriate time.
