Former English cricketer omits Tendulkar, Rohit & Gavaskar from his all-time Test XI

Although the list included Virat Kohli, the inclusion of two English players and one South African with just four matches to his name is biwildering.

With the India vs England 3rd Test going on, all the buzz is around two heavyweights in the cricket world. However, former English cricketer and umpire David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd has decided to name his all-time Test XI as the two sides battle for the series. Llyod, who played for England from 1973 to 1980, has snubbed Indian greats like Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Sunil Gavaskar, and Kapil Dev, among others.

Making his all-time Test XI from 1965 onwards, he picked players like former England skipper Graham Gooch and Kevin Pietersen but snubbed all-time openers like Rohit Sharma, Virender Sehwag, and Sunil Gavaskar, or arguably the best number 4 batter ever, Sachin Tendulkar.

David Lloyd’s all-time Text XI (post 1965)

  1. Graham Gooch (England)
  2. Barry Richards (South Africa)
  3. Sir Viv Richards (West Indies)
  4. Brian Lara (West Indies)
  5. Kevin Pietersen (England) / Virat Kohli (India)
  6. Sir Garfield Sobers (West Indies)
  7. Adam Gilchrist (Australia)
  8. Wasim Akram (Pakistan)
  9. Shane Warne (Australia)
  10. Muttiah Muralitharan (Sri Lanka)
  11. Dennis Lillee (Australia)
