Playing in Sylhet, Nuwan Thushara ripped through the Bangladeshi batting line-up in his very first over. He dismissed opener Najmul Shanto with just the second delivery and followed it up by removing Towhid Hridoy with the next ball.
The hat-trick was completed when experienced batsman Mahmudullah was adjudged LBW. This maiden hat-trick, the sixth for a Sri Lankan bowler in T20 internationals, left Bangladesh reeling at 25 for 5 after the powerplay.
