India’s batting maestro Virat Kohli will once again be on spotlight in IND vs WI 1st Test, starting on Wednesday in Domnica. The 34-year-old will join his idol Sachin Tendulkar in a unique ‘father-son’ record list when he will go up against West Indies’ batter Tagenarine Chanderpaul.
Notably, Kohli, who made his Test debut in 2011, also went up against WI legend and Tagenarine’s father Shivnarine Chanderpaul.

This face-off will put Kohli alongside Sachin in the elite list of players who have played against a father-son duo in international cricket.
Sachin Tendulkar entered the unique list when he faced Geoff Marsh in Australia in the 1992 series. He then had the opportunity to play against Marsh’s son, Shaun Marsh during the 2011/12 tour to Australia.
Tagenarine Chanderpaul has turned out to be an exciting young talent for West Indies. ‘Junior’ Chanderpaul has played 6 Test matches so far and has scored runs with an average of 45.30. He will be eager to challenge the Indian bowlers the same way his father used to do.
India to kickstart new WTC cycle with IND vs WI Tests
After a disappointing WTC final, a rejuvinated Team India will begin their new World Test Championship cycle with two Tests against West Indies.
The Indian Test squad will be led by Rohit Sharma, with Ajinkya Rahane as his deputy.
