Has a team surpassed the 300-run mark in T20s? Well, the South Delhi Superstarz (SDS) certainly has did the unthinkable in the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL) T20, as the Shikhar Dhawan-co-owned team bludgeoned 308 runs in their 20 overs against North Delhi Strikers (NDS).
Badoni-Arya show
It was surreal to witness the utter carnage that was put up by South Delhi duo Priyansh Arya and Ayush Badoni. The two lads bludgeoned a partnership of 286 runs in just a matter of 99 balls. The hitting by both the batters meant that none of the North Delhi Strikers bowlers had any idea where to bowl.
The Arun Jaitley Stadium was light up by Priyansh Arya, who hammered six sixes off Manan Bhardwaj, a left-arm spinner. Barring Pranshu Vijayran, none of the North Delhi bowler had an economy rate of under 10. Also, had Siddharth Solanki not leaked just 9 runs off the last over, we could’ve seen the world record set by Nepal take a hit.
More than 5 overs of sixes!
Out of the 120 balls bowled in the first innings, as many as 31 went over the boundary ropes and 19 of them went for fours. That sums up to 50 sixes and fours in total! All credit goes to Badoni and Arya. While Badoni made 165, to smash the highest individual total by an Indian in T20s, Arya hit his second century of DPLT20.
Highest T20 totals ever ft. South Delhi
Total | Team vs Team |
---|---|
314/3 | Nepal vs Mongolia |
308/5 | South Delhi Superstarz vs North Delhi Strikers |
287/3 | Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru |
With this, South Delhi have become the first team from India to hammer a total above 300. While the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) did come close to the feat but failed to do so in IPL 2024. South Delhi created history in an entertaining league, that is the Delhi Premier League T20!
