The Indian Premier League 2024 is almost upon us as the teams gear up for yet another year of T20 bonanza. The countdown for the gala tournament started with IPL teams releasing their retained players’ lists. The teams would be looking to go all guns blazing in the auction that will take place on December 19. Here, we take a look at the purse strength the teams will have at the auction.

Delhi Capitals
The Delhi Capitals have released a lot of players ahead of the IPL 2024 auctions. They are left with Rs 28.95 crore in their purse. After releasing 11 players this year, DC will be looking to fill in some places in their batting line-up with the money left.
Punjab Kings
The Punjab Kings will be looking forward to a successful season after a couple of underperforming ones. Led by Shikhar Dhawan, Punjab will be looking to utilise their auction strategy and get some good cricketers in with Rs 29.1 crores left in their purse.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad had a disappointing outing last season, finishing 10th in the league. However, they will take part in IPL 2024 with new vigour. The team released six players on Sunday, and they are left with Rs 34 crore to try and buy some impactful players at the IPL 2024 auction.
Chennai Super Kings
The Chennai Super Kings have been one of the top teams in the Indian Premier League since the tournament’s inception in 2008. Under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK will be looking forward to yet another successful season. CSK is left with Rs 31.4 crore to spend at the auction on December 19. The southern side will be looking to use their kitty to bring in some valuable additions to the squad.
Rajasthan Royals
The champions of the first Indian Premier League have failed to make a lasting impact in the last few IPL seasons. This time around, the Rajasthan Royals have let go of nine players in a bid to overhaul the existing team. They will get a chance to do so at the auctions on December 19, where they will be walking in with Rs 14.5 crore.
Kolkata Knight Riders
KKR have had quite a few successes under captain Gautam Gambhir in the past, but have drawn blanks since the left-handed batter left the team. However, KKR fans can look up to the return of Gautam Gambhir as KKR’s mentor as a lucky omen. Gambhir has made some tough decisions after joining the team, having released 12 players, including Shardul Thakur and Lockie Ferguson, before IPL auctions. Due to the high-profile outgoings, KKR is left with a huge Rs 32.7 crore before the auctions.
Gujarat Titans
A lot of eyes were on the Gujarat Titans before they released their retention list. Questions were raised on whether captain Hardik Pandya would be let go. However, the Gujarat Titans decided to keep Hardik Pandya on their roster for 2024. They have a remaining purse of Rs 13.85 crore left.
Lucknow Super Giants
Lucknow Super Giants would be disappointed to miss out on the final of the IPL last year, having made the top four for the first time the previous season. Gautam Gambhir’s move to KKR from LSG will be another big setback for the team. However, they are left with Rs 13.90 crores to go in the auction and buy the replacements.
Royal Challengers Bangalore
Royal Challengers Bangalore will bank on Virat Kohli’s blistering form in their bid to lift the much-coveted IPL trophy for the first time in their history. Faf Du Plessis will be looking for some quality players to add value to the squad, and RCB is left with a whopping Rs 40.75 crore to seek those players.
Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the history of IPL. The five-time champions will in all probability be led by Rohit Sharma once again. MI will have Rs 15.75 crores left in the purse after releasing 11 players from the team. It will be interesting to see if MI goes for Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya during the trading period with the meagre amount left in their kitty.
