The Indian team has largely been dominant in almost every country they have played in. It is perhaps not a surprise, given the huge talent pool the Indian team possesses. However, there’s one frontier India is yet to capture: winning a Test series in South Africa. As the IND vs SA Test series approaches, it will most certainly be an added motivation for India, specially after winning the IND vs SA ODI series.

India’s squad selection for the IND vs SA Test series is ample proof of India’s intent. After resting the seniors for the white ball series, India have named a full-strength squad for the two match red ball series, consisting the likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.
Such has been the seriousness to win the Test series, India have only retained four players from the ODI squad. KL Rahul, Mukesh Kumar, Shreyas Iyer and Ruturaj Gaikwad are the only players to have retained their place in the Test squad, with all other players from the ODI squad going home.

The fact that South Africa managed to beat India 2-1 in the last Test series in South Africa in 2022 will be playing in the minds of Indians too. Since 1992-93, India have been playing Tests in South Africa, but without any success. India have toured South Africa eight times since 1993 to play Test series. The best result for India have come in 2010/11, when they managed to draw the series. But with plenty of firepower present in the team this time around, will India be able to script history?
