Amped up ahead of IND vs SA T20Is, Indian spinner Ravi Bishnoi opens up on reaching the top of the ICC T20I rankings.

23-year-old spin sensation Ravi Bishnoi achieved a personal milestone by moving to the top of the ICC T20I rankings for bowlers. The young talent from Rajasthan claimed this honour following an exceptional performance in the T20I series against Australia, where he clinched nine wickets in five matches. The ICC Men’s No.1 T20I Bowler is currently with the national squad ahead of the IND vs SA series.

Despite making his T20 debut just last year, Bishnoi’s tricky googlies and well-hidden variations have already set him apart in the international cricketing arena. With a total of 34 wickets in 21 T20 matches at an impressive average of 17.38 and an astonishing economy rate of 7.14.

In a video shared by BCCI on social media, Ravi Bishnoi talked about his recent success in the shortest format of the game.

“This feels out of the world for me. Now that I am here, I will try my best to stay here and do my best to contribute to the team’s success. “

Making his debut in February, his remarkable feat saw Bishnoi surpass the likes of Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga, England’s Adil Rashid, and SL’s Maheesh Theekshana.Bishnoi now stands as the number 1 ranked T20I bowler globally, amassing 699 points.

“The last year has been quite good to me. From Asia Cup to Asian Games, I made sure to make the best of the opportunities I got. But it is the hard work from last 5-6 years that has brought me here and I am enjoying my time here. “ added Bishnoi.

His outstanding series against Australia, where he maintained an average of 18.22, earned him the Player of the Series award. The leg-spinner’s bowling figures in the series included impactful performances of 3/32, 2/32, 2/29, 1/17, and 1/54.

India looks forward to finalizing its squad for the ICC Men’s World Cup 2024. With only six T20Is scheduled before the marquee event, Bishnoi is eyeing a key role in the bowling department. His consistent brilliance, showcased by a commendable economy rate of 7.14, positions him favorably among India’s current crop of bowlers.

However, Bishnoi’s upcoming performances in the series against South Africa, the IPL, and subsequent T20Is will play a pivotal role in securing his spot in the national team for the prestigious tournament.
